Dr Helen Nugent has decided to step down from her position on the Origin Energy board, after 14 years, in order to take up a new role at an electricity infrastructure company.
Dr Nugent is now Ausgrid’s Independent Chairman.
Origin Chairman, Gordon Cairns, said, “I would like to congratulate Helen on her appointment, which recognises her stature as one of the leading directors in corporate Australia. She has been a distinguished servant to the company as a Director for the past 14 years, but particularly in her role as Chair of the Audit Committee and more recently as Chair of the Remuneration Committee.”
As part of a Board renewal process, Origin is advanced in a process to identify and appoint replacement directors, and expects to make an announcement in the foreseeable future.
Scott Perkins has agreed to become Chair of the Board’s Remuneration Committee, replacing Dr Nugent.
With more than thirty years’ experience across sectors such as energy, infrastructure and financial services, Dr Nugent is a highly experienced Chairman and Non-Executive Director. She is also presently Chairman of the Australian Rail Track Corporation and the National Disability Insurance Agency, and a Director of the IAG.
Dr Nugent has also been actively involved in the arts and education. She is Chairman of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia and previously was Chancellor of Bond University. Her career has included senior roles in consulting, banking and academia.
Dr Nugent is a highly regarded, senior member of the Australian business community and Ausgrid’s Directors and shareholders said they are delighted to welcome her as Chairman.
