Icon Water has awarded a contract for necessary works as part of its Water Main Renewal Program.

Interflow has been awarded the contract for the renewal of 1,035m of pipes that were installed in 1936 to new, better-quality pipes on Torrens Street, Wise Street, Henty Street and Helemon Street in Braddon.

The new pipes that will be installed are expected to provide water to the community for the next 100 years. The works will benefit the community by improving water quality, pressure, and reduce incidents of pipe bursts.

Site preparation began on 3 April 2017. This project is expected to take up to ten weeks to complete, depending on the weather during the construction period.

The program in Braddon includes excavation of trenches and pits in the road, footpath and nature strip and laying the majority of new pipes by open cut trenching technique. Adjacent streets to Torrens Street, Wise Street, Henty Street and Helemon Street may be impacted with construction activities.

The project is designed to ensure minimal disruption to water supply for residents and businesses in the area.
